Description
Spanish for “people” or “village”, the name was given by explorers in the Southwest to the indigenous dwellings and people they found there. Made of pressed dried earth or stone, they were usually a group of flat-roofed, connected buildings. Their beauty comes in part from their simple lines and the way their colors seem to grow naturally out of the landscape.
